Ebenezer Medical Outreach, Huntington’s long-serving free and charitable clinic, provides high quality primary care to the uninsured, underinsured, and underserved. Our patients obtain access to dental care and assistance getting essential medications. We make sure the hungry are fed, cancer screenings are completed, and chronic conditions are managed.
But it isn’t easy – or cheap. Costs are up. State grant funding is down. And in the aftermath of the pandemic, more and more of our neighbors are losing their insurance coverage.
There are 5,300 uninsured adults in Cabell County alone – and 75% of them are in the labor force. They make too much to qualify for programs like Medicaid but not enough to afford care. Yet instead of having to quit their jobs to qualify for health coverage, we help them.
Over 1,600 hours are volunteered by doctors, nurses, and many more – and we need every minute of it. Ebenezer is seeing more new patients than we have in years: we’ve already seen three times as many new patients in 2024 as in 2023, and the year isn’t even over yet. The need in our community is great and growing – but so is our commitment to helping.
But we need your help to do it. Before 2024 ends, can you help us in any of these ways?
