Jennifer Sheffield

This past week Ebenezer Medical Outreach Inc. hired two individuals who will help bridge the gap between our non-profit healthcare clinic and the community. Gavin Brandenburg and Jennifer Sheffield represent the expanding care offered at EMO. The two local Huntington area natives will offer a support system to EMO’s patients.

The clinic’s Community Health Workers are scheduled to travel to patient’s homes and help with providing assistance. These weekly visits coordinate care with the clinic as well as bring information and local resources directly to each patient. The goal is to provide clinical care assistance in managing long term illnesses. This is truly a destination in bringing direct care to a patient’s doorstep. These expanded services are not only a goal for Ebenezer Medical Outreach Inc., but they are also a compassionate care objective for both Brandenburg and Sheffield.

Gavin Brandenburg

Brandenburg stated, “I had worked at Cabell County Coalition for the Homeless throughout the pandemic worked with individuals to help them with getting housed and acquiring basic documents. This position is both fulfilling a passion and dream for me. I wanted to become a doctor and work within the health community.”
Sheffield said, “I’m excited to get out in the community and help people; to start this position and help the community. Help people I know that may need assistance, or help people I know and have grown up with in this area. It’s a great opportunity to give back to my hometown. The history behind EMO is inspiring, and I am happy to be a part of it.”

After completing their training, Sheffield and Brandenburg will begin meeting with patients weekly for in home visits. Patients can receive instructional knowledge in continuing their care through the EMO’s Community Health workers.
